A balanced sample for plumbing pilot reviews

Reviewing only smooth calls can make a pilot look successful while failed transfers, unusual locations and incomplete requests remain unexamined.

01

The decision to make first

Reviewing only smooth calls can make a pilot look successful while failed transfers, unusual locations and incomplete requests remain unexamined. Choose examples across the workflow’s meaningful outcomes, including failures, rather than selecting only the longest or most impressive conversations.

02

What the handoff should contain

Include ordinary intake, out-of-area, no-answer transfer, existing-job update, incomplete details and a caller correcting the assistant.

03

Suggested wording to approve

Example wording: “This review asks whether the approved next step happened. A pleasant conversation is useful, but it does not replace an accurate request and an accountable handoff.”

04

Test the difficult case

Build a fictional review pack with both expected successes and known failures, then check whether reviewers identify the same issues. Do not use a small selected sample to claim a universal success rate or guaranteed performance for every future caller.

05

Worked example

Fictional example: The review pack contains eight smooth requests and two failed transfers. If reviewers select only the smooth calls, the apparent outcome misses the routing problem. A balanced pack includes the failures and asks whether the fallback worked, without converting that small exercise into a broad claim about all customer calls.

06

Review it in operation

Record the selection method with the review so later comparisons do not confuse a changed sample with a changed service.
